Lucia Papanetzová was born in 1978 in Lučenec, Slovak Republic. From 1992–1997 she studied church music (Organ with L. Kiss and Choral Conducting with P. Tužinský) at the Conservatory in Banska Bystrica. Yevgeny Irsai encouraged her in her approach to composition.
From 1998 she studied composition in Vladimir Bokes’s class at the Bratislava Music Academy. In 2003 she graduated with a doctorate. Since 2009 she has held the post of Vice-Dean.
Lucia Papanetzová founded and organized the Student Festival of Contemporary Music ORFEUS and co-founded the Association for young composers SOOZVUK.
Her compositions are performed at various European festivals. In 2003 she received the Jan Levoslav-Bella Prize for her composition “Passacaglia.”
